Our Ethics

We are dedicated to a Food Safety and Quality policy, which will ensure that we produce safe and legal products to a specified quality to all our customers at all times.

 

The key-manufacturing objective is the achievement of consistent quality, with the production of safe, legal and wholesome food. These aims will be achieved by concentrating on controlling the process, rather than the product, looking to get it right first time. The policy endorses the use of a quality management system, which is based on quality assurance and utilizes the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point technique.

 

We will invest in human resources, seeking to constantly improve the quality of our standards of recruitment and motivation of existing employees. We will establish training needs, particularly with respect to continual quality improvement and commit the necessary resources to fulfil these needs for all personnel. 

We are one of the UK’s independent poultry processing companies, which produce a wide range of chicken products for the food service market.

 

We strive to establish strong partnerships with our farmers, suppliers, customers and consumers, delivering at all times to our commitment on quality.

 

Our core purpose is “to provide consumers with high quality exciting foods that they can trust.” By building on our integrity of production, and the traceability of our products we can ensure that our consumers receive products of the highest quality.

 

The management of Frank Bird Poultry Ltd undertakes to up hold the environmental integrity around its locality and will endeavor not to damage or endanger the surrounding area. An onus assessment of the surrounding environment will be used to help gain knowledge and identify potential detrimental changes or deterioration within the locality.

About Us

Frank Bird (Poultry) Ltd are a family owned poultry processor based on a single site in Langwathby, Penrith. Cumbria. Turnover is derived from selling fresh chicken products to wholesalers and further processors.

 

Our Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking

We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Our Anti-slavery Policy reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.

Due diligence processes for slavery and human trafficking

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk we monitor ethical standards across the business on a regular basis both internally and via external third party audits. The business is a member of SEDEX and it is in our Technical Conditions of Supply that we encourage our our suppliers register with SEDEX and make their Ethical data visible to us, enabling us to drive Ethical standards within our supply chain.

Our Supply Chains

Supply chain security and integrity is a crucial component of the business model. Robust technical and traceability systems ensure that our products are responsibly sourced from suppliers whose values are aligned with our own. 

 

We always monitor, assess and mitigate the potential risk areas in our supply chains and have robust systems in place to deal with such risks.

Training

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we provide training to our staff in order that both our permanent and temporary labour is fully aware of our commitment to prevent slavery and human trafficking in our business, and along our supply chain.

 

Whistleblowing Policy

The business also has a Whistleblowing Policy and a confidential hotline for employees to voice any concerns that they have, and this can be run concurrently in line with site Grievance policies. 

 

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our Company’s slavery and human trafficking statement.
